Robin van Persie has moved to allay fears he has suffered a serious ankle injury by insisting he will be back in action within four to six weeks.

The Holland international lasted just ten minutes of Saturday's international friendly with Italy after partially rupturing a right ankle ligament following a challenge with Azzurri stopper Giorgio Chiellini.

Initial reports had suggested van Persie could even miss the rest of the season, although such conjecture was quietened when the Dutch FA confirmed he would not require surgery.

Van Persie, who has been in the form of his life this season, is confident that the problem is nowhere near as serious as first feared.

"The prognosis is that I will be out for four to six weeks," van Persie told the Dutch television station NOS.

The talented 26-year-old has scored eight goals in his last 11 matches for the North London club, who are second to Chelsea in the Premier League.

Arsenal host Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on 29th November, a game van Persie will now miss.
