Kieran Gibbs admits that he is happy to play anywhere as long as it means he gets time on the pitch.

Deployed at left-back for Arsenal, Gibbs was asked to do a job in central midfielder and then on the left wing by England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce on Saturday.

The 20-year-old did not disappoint and shone as England won 1-0 against Portugal at Wembley to keep their European Championship qualifying hopes very much alive.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has tipped the youngster as having an outside chance of making Fabio Capello's final World Cup squad and Gibbs' versatility would certainly be something that would impress the Italian.

"The gaffer [Pearce] told me he was going to change me around a bit and use my energy to try and stop them from playing really, so I was happy to get involved," he said.

"Just get me on the football pitch and I will be happy, so it does not matter where."

Despite being tipped for success by his club manager and the blip in form of left-back rival Wayne Bridge, Gibbs insists he is not thinking of securing a place on the plane to South Africa.

"I do look forward to taking my chances but you also have to enjoy it because you do not get opportunities like this all the time," he added.

"I had a little chance last season and now I am looking to do the same again. I played in some big games and it is all good experience to help make me stronger to come back now this season and for the rest of my career.

"I am not thinking too much about the World Cup because there is still a long season to go."
