Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas revealed a half-time dressing down from manager Arsene Wenger inspired his side to come from behind to beat Liverpool.

The Gunners were trailing at the interval after Dirk Kuyt had put the home side ahead four minutes before the break.

The visitors improved massively in the second period and hauled themselves level with the aid of Liverpool defender Glenn Johnson, who prodded the ball past his own goalkeeper to gift Arsenal an equaliser.

Andrey Arshavin then produced a piece of magic to give his side the lead, the diminutive Russian powering a shot past Jose Reina on the hour to claim a 2-1 victory.

Fabregas revealed that Wenger was so unhappy with the first-half performance that he had a few choice words for his charges.

"The boss screamed," Fabregas told Sky Sports 1. "I've never seen him like that before.

"He was really disappointed in the first half and said we didn't deserve to wear the Arsenal shirt if we played like that.

"And I think he was right. In the second half we turned it around."

The win could not have come at a better time for Arsenal, who capitalised on Manchester United and Chelsea dropping points to go six points behind Carlo Ancelotti's league-leaders.

But the Spaniard was not prepared to get carried away despite his side going third. He added: "There is still a long way to go.

"The Premier League is more open than ever, you can beat any team and I like it that way."
