Cesc Fabregas insists he will be doing everything possible to be fit for Arsenal's game with Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Gunners skipper missed their 3-0 win over Hull City last weekend after limping out of their draw at Burnley having found the back of the net at Turf Moor.

The 22-year-old has been in blistering form for the Premier League high-flyers this season and has bemoaned the timing of his hamstring tweak.

However, the knock is not thought to be very serious and the Spain international is crossing his fingers he will be able to reclaim his place in Arsene Wenger's side for the eagerly-awaited clash with Villa.

Big shame

"It is a big shame because I was feeling good in the Burnley game and these things seem to happen when I am at the top of my game," Fabregas said in the Evening Standard.

"I think it is three times now that it has happened and it breaks your momentum a bit.

"You learn to cope with it, though, and rest assured that I will be working as hard as I can over the Christmas period to be back for the game with Aston Villa."
