Arsene Wenger hopes that Arsenal's dramatic win against Hull City will give his squad the belief they need to capture the Premier League title.

Despite having to cope with George Boateng's sending off, the Tigers managed to hold off Arsenal's charge until Nicklas Bendtner pounced in the third minute of injury time.

The win moves the Gunners level on points with Chelsea, although they have played one more game than their west London rivals.

Although he admitted that he did not enjoy such nervy finishes, Wenger was happy to see his side pick up another three points.

"It's maybe not good for my heart, but for the championship it's not bad," he said.

"We have eight games to go, we are in there, why should we not believe?

Effort

"What I believe especially is that we will give absolutely everything to do it. You saw that in the game today. We were a bit jaded but we kept going.

"We needed the three points and we got it after the 90 minutes."

Sol Campbell was involved in a controversial incident when he was adjudged to have brought down Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink as the Dutch striker was through on goal.

The Frenchman did not dispute the validity of the penalty but dismissed suggestions that Campbell should have been shown the red card.

He added: "Vennegoor of Hesselink played him in an intelligent way.

"Sol had no other option than to touch him but there was no intention, it was accidental.

"And he (Vennegoor of Hesselink) was offside at the start."
