Cagliari president Massimo Cellino is almost certain that Italy goalkeeper Federico Marchetti will be staying at the Serie A club next season, unless the club receive an offer which he cannot refuse.

The 27-year-old replaced the injured Gianluigi Buffon for the second half of Italy's World Cup opening game against Paraguay and started for the Azzurri in the surprise draw against New Zealand.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Arsenal after the Gunners failed with an enquiry for Fulham's Mark Schwarzer, while Cagliari's Serie A rivals Juventus had also been mooted as admirers of Marchetti.

Cellino is proud and honoured that Marchetti is currently playing for the national side at the World Cup but is sure the 27-year-old will be staying at the Stadio Sant'Elia next season unless the club receive a big money offer.

The club have reportedly set a £12.5 million price tag on the keeper, who has established himself as one of the Italian top flight's best.

"It's an honour for us that Marchetti is the national keeper and he deserves to be at such a big stage but we're not in a hurry to sell," admitted Cellino.

"Let's wait and then we will make a decision.

"I have given his agent until the end of June to see if we receive any offers for him, otherwise he will stay with us."
