Lehmann: To rejoin Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has confirmed veteran goalkeeper Jens Lehmann will sign a contract to rejoin Arsenal until the end of the season.
Arsenal have been looking to bring in short-term cover between the posts since Wojicech Szczesny suffered a finger injury in the defeat by Barcelona last week.
Szczesny joined Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone on the sidelines to leave Manuel Almunia as the only senior goalkeeper in Wenger's squad.
Reports surfaced last weekend that Lehmann could sign a deal with Arsenal upon his return to the club to do some work towards his coaching badges.
Lehmann confirmed earlier in the week that he would be happy to answer Wenger's SOS and a deal is now in the pipeline.
Wenger said: "Lehmann is training with us and will sign for the rest of the season.
"We have no cover in the Premier League, so that is why I decided to bring Jens back.
"He has not signed, but it [a contract] has been agreed."
The 41-year-old spent five years with Arsenal and made almost 200 appearances for the club after his 2003 arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
He returned to the Bundesliga with Stuttgart in 2008 before the former Germany international called time on his playing career last summer.
