Neville: Looking for a boost
Phil Neville insists Everton's squad is stronger than last year and hopes to kick-start the club's season at Arsenal on Saturday.
Everton have endured a disappointing start to the new campaign after crashing out of the Carling Cup and Uefa Cup.
They have also yet to win at Goodison Park and have collected just eight points from seven Premier League games, having finished fifth last term.
However, Toffees skipper Neville believes the club are now better equipped for success and will lead his team out at Emirates Stadium this weekend in search of three points.
Neville recently told Givemefootball, the official website of the Professional Footballers' Association: "I think the squad is stronger than last year. Just because our results have not been what we would have liked doesn't mean we are weaker.
"We have a few injuries at the moment which is not helping, but we need to improve our performances and results.
"We have had a break and now we can't wait to get back playing. We have a tough programme coming up with Arsenal and then Manchester United in succession, so plenty to look forward to.
On Saturday's game, he added: "They pass it well and try to keep it on the ground and pass and move the ball quickly around the pitch, so obviously we are going to have our work cut out on Saturday.
"To be honest we need to get our home form together, but we know it is going to be hard at the Emirates. But we need to kick-start our season as quickly as possible and it would be good at this stadium because it is a good pitch, good atmosphere and we are up against a good footballing side.
"Where better to get our season up and running?"
