Cahill: Back among the goals
Joseph Yobo believes Everton are set to reap the benefits of 'invisible man' Tim Cahill's return to form.
The talismanic Australian ended a 10-game scoring drought on Saturday when he ghosted into the box to snatch a dramatic winner at Manchester City.
Cahill had been asked to plough a lone furrow up front against the Blues, with Everton currently teetering under the weight of a crippling injury list.
He had endured a torrid spell heading into the weekend encounter, but Yobo insists that his team-mates always believed it was only a matter of time before he was back to his best.
"Tim is an invisible player because he is so difficult to mark - he is a nightmare for defenders to play against," Yobo told the Liverpool Echo.
"You don't know whether he is a striker or a midfielder and when he gets a chance like he did at City, you always back him to take it.
"You have got to give him great credit because he played up front on his own. He carried the fight to City and spurred us on. He's a very important player and he has shown that once again.
"He is a fighter. Even when he doesn't play in his best position, he gives everything for the team and he sets an example."
The victory in Manchester went some way to erasing the painful memories of a heartbreaking defeat to Aston Villa in their previous outing.
It also represented their sixth success on the road this season, a record which stands in stark contrast to their dismal home record.
With that in mind, and with a crunch clash with title-chasing Chelsea to come next Monday, Yobo has challenged the Toffees to start replicating their fine away form at Goodison Park.
"We should have got something out of the Villa game but we knew if we played at the same tempo and level then we'd have got our rewards against City," he added.
"We suffered a blow in losing Victor (Anichebe) before the game and we had no strikers but we just believed in ourselves. We are a team that fights for one another and we have great confidence.
"We took that belief to City and we deserved to win. We are all so happy and we want to build on that now when we play Chelsea."
