Donovan: In demand
Everton's hopes of signing Landon Donovan on loan have been hit by a setback after LA Galaxy's announcement that a number of clubs are interested in the USA captain.
Toffees manager David Moyes wants to complete a deal for the forward in the January transfer window and the Premier League club are in talks with Galaxy.
Donovan is expected to leave his parent club in the current close-season of the MLS in order to maintain match fitness ahead of the World Cup, when USA face England.
Any deal would therefore be a replica of David Beckham's loan move to AC Milan, but it is not certain that 27-year-old Donovan will be moving to Goodison Park.
"We are aware of Everton's interest in Landon Donovan as they are one of a number of clubs who have contacted the Galaxy about the possibility of a short-term loan agreement," said an LA Galaxy statement on www.mlsnet.com.
"The Galaxy, MLS and Landon's representative will work together to determine if and whether an arrangement with Everton or any other club would be beneficial to all parties."
