David Moyes has again cast doubt on the chances of Everton being able to extend Landon Donovan's loan spell at Goodison Park.

Donovan has been quick to make an impact in the Premier League since joining the Toffees in January from Los Angeles Galaxy.

His 10-week loan deal is due to expire in mid-March and the USA international has hinted that there may be a possibility of prolonging his time on Merseyside.

However, after watching the attacker catch the eye in Wednesday's 2-1 win over leaders Chelsea, Moyes was pessimistic about his prospects of hanging on to Donovan.

"I don't think so," said the Everton manager. "We said it was always going to be the loan.

"He has just signed a new contract with the Galaxy so I don't think that will happen."

Donovan has scored once in seven appearances for Everton so far and Moyes felt his display against Chelsea was his best for the club.

He added: "I thought he maybe had his best game for us, he was a threat.

"He tracked Ashley Cole - who we know is great going forward - when he had to and made intelligent runs inside him, which at times caught him out."
