Everton have confirmed that Joseph Yobo has completed his season-long loan move to Fenerbahce.

Skysports.com reported on Tuesday that Fener were hoping to secure the services of the Nigeria international ahead of West Ham.

A deal had been agreed between Everton and the Turkish club, and after Yobo passed a medical and agreed personal terms, the move was completed on Wednesday ahead of the Turkish transfer deadline.

The 29-year-old defender joins the Istanbul-based outfit for the rest of the season, with a view to a permanent move.

Limited chances

Yobo is one of Everton's longest-serving players having arrived from Marseille in the summer of 2002, initially on loan, and is under contract until 2014.

But his first-team opportunities have been limited with Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin forging an effective partnership in the centre of the Toffees' defence.

Yobo has not featured for Everton this season and was unavailable for the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday due to a slight thigh problem.

A regular for Nigeria, he captained his country at this summer's World Cup and has made 69 international appearances, along with over 250 for Everton.
