David Moyes has reiterated his desire to stay as Everton manager and is determined to come back fresh next season.

Everton ended their campaign with a 1-0 win at home to deposed champions Chelsea as Jermaine Beckford's solo goal secured his club a seventh-placed finish.

After the match, Chelsea sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti and Moyes, who has also been linked with Aston Villa, has been mooted as one option to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

Moyes works with limited resources at Goodison Park, however, the long-serving Scot has underlined his commitment to the post he has held for the past nine years.

Fresh challenge

"As far as I know I am here and I am the manager - that is what I want to do," said Moyes.

"I want to have a club where I can give the supporters something.

David Moyes Quotes of the week

"I want to be fresh and have a good, fresh challenge when we come back next summer. Let's hope that's the case."

Everton's victory over Chelsea emphasised their return to form over the second half of the season after a slow start.

The Toffees were just three points off the relegation zone at the end of February, but lost only two of their last 12 games.

Moyes added: "At the start of the season I was one of the people saying we could do better than seventh.

"But I have had to reassess after seeing what is going to be spent and what has to be done.

"I have got to praise the players for how they have performed from Christmas onwards."
