Megson: Satisfied
Gary Megson was pleased to end the season with a good performance following Bolton's 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
Chelsea still had a chance to become Premier League champions as the day started and Megson admits it was always going to be a huge challenge for his side.
The Trotters frustrated Chelsea in the first half but could not keep them at bay after the break as Andrei Shevchenko turned the ball home.
However, Bolton responded well and snatched a point as Matt Taylor scored in the third minute of stoppage time.
Megson admits there was an unusual atmosphere at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea fans kept track of Manchester United's clash with Wigan, but he was happy with the way Bolton kept their focus.
He told Sky Sports News: "It was a bit strange because you would hear a reaction from the crowd and it was natural to try and find out what was going on. It was a bit like Chinese whispers.
"From our own point of view we wanted to come here and win the game but we're not stupid, we know the type of players they have got.
"We needed to make it a tight game and we certainly did that in the first half."
Bolton were not mathematically safe prior to kick-off and Megson was aware that a heavy defeat could have resulted in relegation.
"Whilst a win would have been fantastic, we wanted to get something from the game, which actually did happen," he said.
"Whatever the result, it was important that we didn't put in a poor performance and let them catch fire and end up beating us by a cricket score."
