Gary Megson admits Bolton Wanderers need to quickly start picking up points to stop the pressure from mounting.

Bolton have not won since the opening day of the season and are outside the relegation zone only on goal difference after six games.

Megson takes his team to West Ham United on Sunday and he is keen to pick up a positive result.

"We have got to get points on the board, otherwise it will start to tighten up here again - for myself, for everyone concerned - and that would make life hard for the players," Megson told the Bolton News.

Taylor target

The Trotters' squad has been boosted by the return to fitness of Matt Taylor, who had been out for five weeks with a broken toe.

Taylor was an unused substitute in last week's defeat at Manchester United and is aware he faces a fight to get back into the team.

"That's what football is all about," Taylor told the club's official website with regards to the competition. "I want to play and I'm sure that's the case for everybody who's in the team.

"It's not up to me to pick the team, it's up to the manager, so whatever he chooses to do is his prerogative.

"It was nice to be on the bench on Saturday. Obviously it was disappointing not to get on, but I feel fine and now I've got to try and force myself back into the team."
