Bolton boss Gary Megson continues to brush off his Reebok Stadium critics and has vowed to fight on at the helm.

Megson has never been universally accepted by the Trotters faithful following his appointment as Sammy Lee's replacement in October 2007.

The former Stockport, West Brom and Nottingham Forest boss has preserved Bolton's Premier League status for the past two terms, but has been unable to match the achievements of Sam Allardyce.

Allardyce's new club Blackburn Rovers claimed a 2-0 success over their North West rivals on Sunday, leading to increased calls for Megson's head from the Bolton supporters.

Backing

Chairman Phil Gartside has given the ex-Norwich, Blackpool, Stoke and Leicester boss his backing, and Megson insists he will not be hounded out.

He said: "I've been dealing with this for two years.

"I've been getting sacked every morning, I haven't known what I was doing since I've been here.

"I've kept his club up twice and we're one of the lowest spenders in the division."
