Preston North End are hoping to sign Andrew Taylor, but they face a battle to land the Middlesbrough full-back.

Preston have been in talks with Boro about taking him on loan for the rest of the season.

Boro are well stocked for left-sided players and Gordon Strachan appears ready to let Taylor leave on loan.

Interest in Taylor is strong with Bolton and Queens Park Rangers also monitoring the situation.

23-year-old Taylor, a product of Boro's famed youth academy, has been limited to just three starts this season mainly due to injuries.
