Matejovsky: Setting targets
Marek Matejovsky is hoping to be back in action in time for the start of the 2008/09 season.
The Reading midfielder sustained ankle ligament damage while representing Czech Republic at Euro 2008 and had been expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
However, with the injury proving to be less serious than first feared, the 26-year-old is hoping to join his team-mates for pre-season training on 13th July.
"It is better," he told MF DNES.
"For the last week I have been travelling to Prague to visit a doctor for rehabilitation.
"At first I could not tread on the injured foot. I had it braced and had to use crutches. Then every day the rehabilitation has taken place.
"I will fly back to Reading on 13th July. The pre-season starts on the 4th July but I have a longer holiday having played at Euro 2008.
"During the first few days I will train individually, but I hope to be back among the squad very soon."
Responding to the rumours that he may be set to leave the Royals following their relegation to the Championship, Matejovsky insists that he has every intention of playing his part in a promotion bid next term.
"As far as I know I am returning to Reading and I am ready to play for them despite the fact that we were relegated."
