Hateley: Bad timing
Hamilton Academical's bid to sign Reading youngster Tom Hateley on loan has been put on hold.
The SPL new boys are looking to increase their defensive options and have lined up a deal for teenage stopper Hateley.
However, the 18-year-old has contracted mumps, although Hamilton boss Billy Reid is optimistic a deal will eventually go through.
"Unfortunately the boy has been advised to rest by their medical people," said Reid in the Daily Record.
"It's bad timing as we wanted to have a look at him, but I'm pretty confident we can get something sorted."
Meanwhile, Hamilton have also been linked with bid to sign Dutch defender Benjamin Pinto on a free transfer.
Pinto, who plays at left-back, has been released by FC Den Bosch and is reported to be a target for Reid.
