Coppell: Resigned to losing some players

Reading director of football Nicky Hammond says the club are under no pressure to sell any of their stars.

A number of players including, Nicky Shorey, James Harper, Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle have all been linked with moves away from Reading following their relegation from the Premier League.

Hammond accepts some players will leave the Madejski Stadium before the start of the season, but insists any transfers will be on their terms.

"We are going to lose some players there is no doubt about that over the next month or so I believe," Hammond told Sky Sports News.

"But we have been very clear - players will only leave the club if it is right for Reading football club.

No pressure

"It is a well run, sensible football club and we are not in a position where we have to sell players to balance the books.

"If an offer comes in for one of our players, it is realistic and the player wants to go, Steve Coppell has been very clear in that respect he wants players at the club who want to be here for the right reasons.

"We will judge each case on its merits but I am sure there will be some movement over the next few weeks."
