Reading winger Hal Robson-Kanu has returned to Southend United on a one-month loan deal.

Robson-Kanu spent three months of last season at Roots Hall and impressed Southend's management sufficiently to secure a second stint.

Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson now expects the 19-year-old to add competition to his squad.

Robson-Kanu made six starts for Southend in his previous spell and scored three goals and Tilson is hoping for more of the same and has hinted the deal could be extended.

"Hal will shake things up a little bit," Tilson told Southend's official website.

"He did well last season when he was fit and the fact he can play on the wing or up front is a bonus. He scored three goals last time here so he is a threat.

"We've got him for a month to start with and we will take it from there."
