Skysports.com can confirm Stoke have signed Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko.

The powerful defender has agreed a three-year deal at the Britannia Stadium after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Sonko joined Reading from Brentford in 2004 and played a big part in helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

However, last season he fell out of favour with Royals boss Steve Coppell after a breach of club discipline.

Sonko won his place back in Coppell's plans this season and started the campaign in fine form, which caught the attention of Stoke boss Tony Pulis.

The player's agent Tommy Cunningham revealed Sonko was delighted to be back in the Premier League.

Agreed

"Ibrahima has agreed to join Stoke and he has signed a three-year deal," Cunningham told skysports.com.

"He is delighted to be back playing in the Premier League and he is looking forward to playing for Stoke.
