Reading midfielder Marek Matejovsky believes he will soon be back in action following injury.

The Czech Republic international was stretchered off with an ankle problem during Reading's goalless draw with Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the season.

He is set to step up his rehabilitation over the next few days and does not think it will be long before he can return to Steve Coppell's side.

"The doctor said my ankle looks very nice," Matejovsky told Denik Sport.

"Last week I did some special exercises on the ankle and at the beginning of this week I will start jogging.

"I believe that, from then on, it will improve quickly. I just don't want to rush it.

"The doctor told me that if I rush it something might go wrong inside the ankle and I would risk surgery."

Reports suggest that Matejosvky could be in contention for a first-team return in two to three weeks.

The 26-year-old added: "The treatment has gone well, without any problems, so I am positive."
