Marcus Hahnemann is eager to remain at Reading but is unsure if he will be offered a new contract.

The American has been a key figure for the Royals since joining the club in 2002, making more than 250 appearances.

He remains Steve Coppell's first-choice goalkeeper but will be a free agent in the summer and, at 36, he is not certain whether he will be kept on.

Hahnemann has previously made it clear that he would like to play on into his 40s but he now faces a nervous wait for Coppell's decision.

"I really want to stay but I don't know what is going on," he said in The Sun.
