Pompey eye keeper swoop

Harry Redknapp concedes that he could be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper following an injury to Jamie Ashdown.

Portsmouth's pre-match preparations were handed a blow at the weekend against Fulham as Ashdown pulled-up with a hamstring injury, just minutes before kick-off.

Sander Westerveld will deputise in Ashdown's absence but it seem likely that Redknapp will scour the market now the transfer window has opened again.

"He's out," said Redknapp, when quizzed on Ashdown's injury.

"He's done a hamstring and it could be a few weeks. He came in 10 minutes before kick-off after going out for a kick-about and it doesn't look good."

Redknapp was always expected to play the market in January but he will nevertheless be disappointed that he may have to use vital resources in landing a new goalkeeper; albeit most likely on loan.
