Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has told Matt Taylor he will not stand in his way if the right offer comes in.

Taylor recently voiced his frustration at his lack of opportunities this season, having started just three Premier League games.

Redknapp insists he still rates the midfielder, but he can also understand his frustration and would be willing to let him go for a good price.

"I know how he feels," said Redknapp. "He is a very good player and I want to keep him here but if a big offer comes in I wouldn't stand in his way.

"Matty is a good lad who trains hard and gives everything and if he was happy with just being on the bench and playing in the reserves I wouldn't want him here with that attitude anyway."

Reading and Fulham have been linked with Taylor, who can also play at left-back but may cost upwards of £4million.

But with the African Cup of Nations looming large on the horizon Redknapp may still hope to convince Taylor to stay at Fratton Park.

The manager said: "When the African Cup comes around I'll have a squad of only 14 players capable of playing at Premier League level. That's all."
