Distin: Could be back for Pompey
Sylvain Distin should be fit for Portsmouth's FA Cup tie with Preston North End, but Noe Pamarot is out for several weeks.
French defender Distin has missed Pompey's last two matches after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-0 defeat at Manchester United.
But he is making positive progress from the injury and is expected to be available for Sunday's fifth round trip to Deepdale, live on Sky Sports 1.
"Sylvain's progressing quite well," Pompey physio Gary Sadler told the club's official website. "We started running last week and we've started him in training to see how he goes.
"He's done everything that we've asked of him with no reaction which is good news. Everything seems to be going according to plan.
"If he can come through some more training sessions then there's no reason why he won't be available on Sunday."
David Nugent could be available to face his former club after hernia surgery, but Pamarot will be out after damaging medial knee ligaments.
Pamarot was hurt during the first half of last weekend's win at Bolton Wanderers, with Portsmouth expecting the versatile stopper to miss 'the next few games'.
Sadler added: "Noe's had a scan and he's done his medial ligaments, but it's too early to tell how long he's going to be out for."
