Harry Redknapp fears Portsmouth may not be able to afford Shaun Wright-Phillips, but feels the Chelsea winger would be a hit at Fratton Park.

The Pompey manager is looking to make four new signings before the start of the season and has been linked with a string of players.

He is keen to add another winger to his squad and admits he would relish the opportunity to prise Wright-Phillips away from Chelsea.

Redknapp told the Daily Star Sunday: "He'd be a hit here, the fans would love him.

"He's my type of player, but the problem is whether we can afford him and his wages.

"He will also be anxious to see how his future lies with his new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari."

Top player

Pompey are also chasing Liverpool duo Peter Crouch and Yossi Benayoun, but Redknapp again acknowledged money is a factor.

A £9million bid for Crouch has reportedly been rejected by Liverpool and Redknapp is happy to leave the negotiations in the hands of chief executive Peter Storrie.

He added: "I leave all the deals to him. I give Peter a list and off he goes, but because he has been away I don't know the latest.

"Peter is a good bloke, he rarely lets me down, although I understand Liverpool do want more than we are offering (for Crouch). We shall see on that one.

"I'd like to have someone like Yossi Benayoun. He's a top player. I don't know what the chances are of getting him out of Liverpool."

Redknapp has also been chasing Manchester City defender Richard Dunne and Tottenham misfit Younes Kaboul, while Chelsea youngster Ben Sahar is a loan target.
