Portsmouth warmed-up for their pre-season trip to Africa with a 4-1 win over south coast neighbours Bournemouth at Dean Court.

The game saw new signing Peter Crouch paired up front with Jermain Defoe for the first time, but it was Sulley Muntari who broke the deadlock on 23 minutes after squeezing the ball through trialist keeper Shwan Jalal's legs.

Pompey doubled their advantage within minutes of half-time when Crouch netted his first goal for the club since signing from Liverpool after tucking the ball home from close range after Defoe's free-kick struck the wall.

The visitors moved three in front when Crouch nodded home Pedro Mendes' corner before Defoe got in on the act by converting comfortably after being played in by Crouch.

However, it was not all one-way traffic with Brett Pitman giving the home faithful something to cheer with 10 minutes remaining when he tucked the ball home from the angle.

Portsmouth will travel to Nigeria later in the week to take on the Nigeria national side or a Nigerian Premier League side.
