Adams: Ready to juggle

Tony Adams believes a top 10 finish for Portsmouth this season would be a 'remarkable' achievement.

Pompey took eighth spot in the top flight last term, having finished the previous campaign in ninth position.

The club also lifted the FA Cup last season after beating Cardiff City in the final to secure European football for the first time in Pompey's history.

But, despite the success enjoyed on the South Coast in recent years, assistant manager Adams is wary about the expectations being placed on Harry Redknapp's squad.

Unbelievable

Only Wigan Athletic had a lower average attendance in the Premier League last season and Adams feels emulating the last two campaigns would be a creditable feat.

"I've gone on record as saying that expectations are very good after two top 10 finishes and another top 10 finish would be unbelievable for the club," Adams told Sky Sports News.

"We get 20,000 people through the gate and, with our finances and location where we are, I think a top 10 finish is remarkable for a club like Portsmouth.

"We've got a little European competition and, as I said, I don't think we'll win all four, so we have to juggle I think."
