Christophe: Impressing at Southend

Southend United have extended the loan of Portsmouth midfielder Jean-Francois Christophe into a second month.

Christophe has made five appearances for the Shrimpers to date, but was due to return to Fratton Park after this weekend's game against Yeovil Town.

However, he has agreed to spend a further four weeks at Roots Hall, with Southend boss Steve Tilson happy to keep the young Frenchman.

"His loan was due to expire after Saturday's game with Yeovil, so we've sorted out keeping him for another month," Tilson told the club's official website.

"I'm pleased it's been sorted out because he gives us a bit of muscle in there.

"We've been scoring plenty of goals, but he does a good job as a holding midfielder and helps the defence.

"I think he's been excellent for us and I'm very pleased he will be staying for longer."
