Crouch: International aim
Peter Crouch hopes to fire Portsmouth to the group stages of the Uefa Cup in order to earn an England recall.
The Fratton Park forward was left out of Fabio Capello's squad for the opening World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Croatia earlier in September.
Crouch also missed out on England's friendly draw with Czech Republic at the beginning of this season.
And after failing to feature on the international scene this term, the 27-year-old is hopeful he can catch the eye of England boss Capello when Pompey travel to Vitoria for the second leg of their Uefa Cup first round tie on Thursday.
The Premier League outfit enjoy a 2-0 advantage from the home tie and Crouch is looking to impress in Portugal, telling the Daily Star: "All I can do is play well for Portsmouth.
"If I catch his (Capello's) eye that would be great.
"If I don't, then I will continue working hard and doing my best for Portsmouth.
"The manager got a great result in Croatia, so I don't think he is doing much wrong.
"I have got my head down and got results for Portsmouth with my fair share of goals."
