Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch has admitted he was shocked by the abuse from Tottenham Hotspur supporters aimed at team-mate Sol Campbell last weekend.

Former Spurs defender Campbell came in for a barrage of abuse from the travelling supporters in Pompey's 2-0 win at Fratton Park on Sunday.

The Football Association has confirmed it is looking into the treatment Campbell received, and Crouch has voiced his astonishment at the events.

He said in The Sun: "I am not often surprised but I was by the events of the weekend.

"There is not a player in the Premier League or playing today who has not suffered abuse from other fans at one time or another.

"We all expect some banter but on Sunday a line was crossed. That is why people are still talking about it."
