Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has slammed the behaviour of 'diving' Sporting Braga players following his side's 3-0 Uefa Cup defeat.

Redknapp saw four of his players booked at Municipal Stadium on Thursday and he has admitted his frustrations.

The Fratton Park boss has also criticised Slovenian match referee Darko Ceferin for failing to control the behaviour of Pompey's Portuguese opponents.

"I got frustrated with the whole game to be honest," said Redknapp.

No idea

"Right from the start I thought the referee had no idea whatsoever.

"It's frightening, they were diving all over the place and nearly every decision seemed to be a booking."

Redknapp admits that his side deserved to lose in their opening game in Group E, but he was unimpressed by the 'poor' performance of Ceferin.

"A few weeks ago we had a great Turkish referee in Guimaraes near here and it was a good game. This time I thought it was very poor," Redknapp added.

Confident

"They (Braga) played well and deserved to win the game but some of the things they were doing were not right.

"It doesn't happen in our game in England.

"Where is the referee from? Slovenia? I'm sure they have a big league there and plenty of top matches."

Redknapp, though, is confident his team can still progress as they prepare for the visit of AC Milan on 27th November and Heerenveen on 17th December.

"We are still in with a chance of qualifying for the next round," he continued. "We've got two big home games in the group, one against AC Milan, and there's still all to play for."
