Swansea have told any admirers of Ferrie Bodde they will be wasting their time making a New Year approach for his services.

The Dutchman was embroiled in a long-running transfer saga with Derby over the summer, before eventually opting to stay at The Liberty Stadium.

The midfielder penned a new contract with the Swans in July, committing his long-term future to the club.

However, a number of eye-catching displays in the Championship this term have rekindled the pre-season interest.

Progress

West Brom, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Bolton are all believed to be tracking the 26-year-old, with a view to making a formal approach when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Swansea are reluctant to part company with Bodde, though, and club chairman Huw Jenkins insists Roberto Martinez will be under no pressure to sell should Premier League clubs come knocking.

"He will be staying with us," he said.

"He's committed to helping the club progress."
