Nugent: No relaxing
David Nugent and Kanu are relishing the prospect of facing Manchester United at Old Trafford.
United saw their FA Cup dreams come to an end at the weekend but will be determined to stay on track for the Premier League title by picking up three points against Portsmouth.
Nugent accepts that it will be very difficult to stop Sir Alex Ferguson's men but he feels Pompey must look to take something from the match.
He wants Portsmouth to strengthen their position after moving six points clear of the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Bolton on Saturday.
"It was a massive win against Bolton and it edges us closer to safety with a couple of really tough games coming up - you don't get any tougher than Manchester United away," Nugent told the club's official website.
"We can't relax. We have to push on and keep getting points to make sure that we stay in this league.
"We want to keep that unbeaten run going. It's five games now but it's going to be tough against United.
"They rested a few of their big guns at the weekend, so we're probably going to be up against the best players in the world."
Portsmouth shocked United in the FA Cup last season and Kanu is confident of causing another major upset on Wednesday.
"We have a very important week ahead at Manchester United and Newcastle," the Nigerian told The News.
"If we can take points from those games then I believe we will stay up.
"We have won at Old Trafford before and we will not be going there just to look at them. We have to get a point from the game.
"It is not over yet, there are still doubts about us staying up and the gaffer wants us to keep on going. So it won't be just a leisurely walk around Old Trafford.
"We have to make sure we give them a game - and we will."
