Pavlyuchenko: Chance of a lifetime

Spartak Moscow say they could not deny Roman Pavlyuchenko 'a once in a lifetime' move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker is tipped to join Spurs after claiming he is waiting for a visa before heading to England to finalise his transfer.

Russian club Spartak have confirmed an offer has been formally accepted for Pavlyuchenko, who impressed for his country at Euro 2008.

And Spartak chairman Valery Karpin admits the club could not block Pavlyuchenko from discussing the chance to move to the Premier League.

Happy

"Tottenham has already made a formal proposal," Karpin told Sovetsky Sport.

"They have made us a firm offer and we are happy with it.

"As long as Roman agrees to sign a deal with the club, we are prepared to let him go.

"Footballers don't get chances like this all the time, maybe only once in a lifetime.

"If Roman goes to England, it will be good for Tottenham and for himself."
