Milito: Glad to be back in Genoa
Diego Milito insists he made the right decision by choosing to join Genoa over Tottenham.
The Argentina international had been linked with a host of clubs over the summer after suffering relegation with Spanish side Real Zaragoza.
Spurs were in the market for a proven goalscorer after selling Robbie Keane to Liverpool, with Milito featuring prominently on their wish list.
However, Russia ace Roman Pavlyuchenko headed to White Hart Lane while Milito made an emotional return to Italy.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a productive two-season spell with Genoa between 2003 and 2005, only to be forced to leave after the club were relegated to the third division following match-fixing sanctions against them.
The South American hit-man admits he is delighted to be back after a three-year absence and is adamant that he never wanted to join any other club.
"I know I've made the right choice, this is my home and these are my people," said the Argentine when he arrived in Genoa to hoards of cheering fans.
"I was against a move to Tottenham. I beat my fist on the table in order to wear this shirt again."
