Jermaine Jenas admits Tottenham Hotspur still have work to do to climb out of trouble, but believes Harry Redknapp is the manager to lift the team.

Redknapp replaced Juande Ramos as Spurs boss less than a fortnight ago and has enjoyed an immediate impact in the job.

Though Spurs are still bottom of the Premier League table, Redknapp has secured wins over Bolton and Liverpool either side of a thrilling 4-4 draw at Arsenal.

Jenas has been lifted by Redknapp's appointment at White Hart Lane and is optimistic Spurs can make progress up the table.

Fully committed

"There's still a lot of work to do to get out of the situation that we are in," said Jenas in the Daily Star.

"The players are fully committed and prepared to work as hard as it takes to get ourselves up the table and out of trouble.

"It was an unfortunate situation we found ourselves in and no-one involved with the club wanted to be there.

"Everyone's attitude completely changes and it starts to get you down. You have to lift yourself up for every game.

"In the end you start trying to pick the bones out of the situation and maybe think about it all too much.

Harsh business

"Football is a very harsh business though and things change fast sometimes, which is what has happened with us.

"You hear a lot about Harry in football, about how great a manager he is to work under and we are just starting to experience that now.

"Hopefully he can do for us what he has done for a number of teams he's managed over the years.

"He's definitely brought a liveliness to the place already, just with his demeanour and the person that he is, and that's given everyone a lift."
