Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has told Sky Sports News that his team-mates are determined to repeat their Carling Cup success.

Spurs, under the stewardship of Juande Ramos at the time, ended their nine-year wait for silverware as they defeated Chelsea at Wembley in February.

The North London club take on Watford on Wednesday night looking to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

And Jenas has warned the Hornets that Spurs are eager to retain their crown under manager Harry Redknapp.

Fantastic

He told Sky Sports News: "I think last season you could see how much it meant to us. A lot of the players had not even played in a final before.

"To go on and win it against a top Chelsea side was fantastic so we all want that feeling again."

Jenas also praised the impact of Redknapp, who took over at White Hart Lane in October.

The England international said: "He has obviously brought a lot of confidence to a lot of players, and a lot of belief within the camp.

"Everyone knows Harry is a top guy but I don't think he gets a lot of credit for the tactical side of things."

Gomes

Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has endured disappointing form since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven in the summer.

But Jenas has backed the under-fire shot-stopper, adding: "It is important for the team to be there for each individual that is going through a phase in their career like that.

"That is exactly what we did as a team. We were there for him and, on top of his fantastic work ethic, he is managing to turn it around."
