Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Luka Modric believes manager Harry Redknapp has improved him as a player.

The Croatia international joined Spurs from Dynamo Zagreb in the summer for a fee of £16.6million.

Modric initially struggled to make an impact in the Premier League but under Redknapp, who rook over from Juande Ramos in October, he has begun to show signs of his quality.

The 23-year-old has praised the effect of Redknapp's appointment and feels the players are working hard for their boss to ensure they climb up from 15th in the table.

"Harry has made me a better player," Modric said in the Daily Mirror.

"He told everyone they should give me the ball and move around me. I respected Ramos but there wasn't a special harmony between us and the coach."

He added: "We will be in the top six this season."
