Harry Redknapp was disappointed to see Tottenham let two points slip at Birmingham on Saturday.

Spurs looked set to take the spoils in a keenly-fought contest at St Andrews, with Jermain Defoe having fired them in front after 69 minutes.

However, Liam Ridgewell proved to be an unlikely hero for the Blues when he bundled home a late leveller.

Redknapp felt his side were deserving of the win, having dominated for long periods, but was forced to accept that one lapse in concentration had proved costly.

"I felt we had control throughout," he told Sky Sports.

"We got one up and we just had to continue playing the way we were. It didn't last though and into injury time we lost concentration and it cost us. We didn't react and it was poor defending.

"I always felt we had control of the game and were the better team. I thought it was a terrific away performance today, so I didn't really see us in any danger.

Top class

"Up until the end we had been top class, but that's how it goes. I couldn't complain about the effort and the way we played today.

"I thought we passed the ball well on a difficult pitch and were always in control. It was definitely two points dropped."

Redknapp was also pleased to see Defoe back among the goals, with the England international having gone four games since he last found the target.

"I knew he hadn't scored for a couple of games, but I didn't know if it was two games or three games or whatever," he added.

"You know he is always going to score again, that is the thing with Jermain.

"He weighed in with one today and that's him, he's a goalscorer. I'm sure there are plenty more goals left in him this season."
