Hughes: Wanted three points
Mark Hughes was delighted with Blackburn's performance in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal but disappointed with the result.
Brad Friedel's mistake let in Robin van Persie early on but Rovers battled back and had a number of opportunities to equalise before David Dunn levelled the scores 18 minutes from time.
Hughes believes Blackburn dominated the game and is confident his side can now compete when they play the best in the league.
He told Sky Sports: "I think if we're honest we were a little bit disappointed. It was a game where really we had the vast majority of the good opportunities.
"I felt we had good possession and, certainly in the second half, a lot of momentum to our play.
"We were trailing to a goal that came about from an unfortunate individual error from Brad, but we were right in the game until Ryan Nelsen got sent off (after 83 minutes).
"We were able to cause a very good Arsenal side a lot of problems and dominate the game.
"I think we proved that we can go up against anyone in the Premier League and give them a difficult game."
Referee Alan Wiley showed eight yellow cards as well as dismissing Nelsen in an extremely physical and competitive game.
Wenger has voiced his unhappiness with some of the challenges on Robin van Persie, but Hughes retorted: "That attitude surprises me. The worst challenge was by van Persie on Stephen Warnock."
