Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has signed a new five-year contract at Ewood Park.

The giant stopper has been a revelation at Ewood Park since arriving from Hertha Berlin last January.

Samba has established himself as a key member of Mark Hughes' side since his arrival and his performances are believed to caught the attention of a host of top clubs.

The new deal will keep Samba at the Lancashire club until 2012 and Samba was delighted to pledge his long-term future to Rovers.

Happy

"I'm very happy to extend my time at the club and look forward to keep going on with my performances," Samba told the club's official website.

Hughes hailed the impact of Samba at the club and he has tipped him to get even better.

Impact

"Chris has made a huge impact in a short time with us and is clearly a young man with a big future," said Hughes.

"We are delighted to have secured his services for the long term. He knows much hard work lies ahead but we are very confident in his ability to continue to progress."
