Accrington Stanley have signed Mark King on a free transfer from neighbours Blackburn Rovers.

The defender was on professional terms at Ewood Park, but two serious knee injuries checked his progress.

He did not make a first-team appearance under Mark Hughes and has accepted a switch to League Two side Accrington.

King has agreed a contract until the end of the season as he looks to convince John Coleman he is worthy of a longer deal.

The Stanley boss could hand the left-back his senior debut in Saturday's League Two fixture with Stockport County.
