Coleman: Hopes to land striker

Accrington are in talks with Blackburn striker Jamie Clark and are 'hopeful' they can agree a loan deal for the teenager.

Clark caught the eye last season as he top scored for Blackburn's reserve team and Accrington are eager to agree a temporary six-month deal.

Accrington had feared new Blackburn boss Paul Ince would want to keep hold of the 19-year-old as he assessed his inherited squad's capabilities.

However, Accrington manager John Coleman is optimistic a deal will soon be agreed.

Pace

"We are hopeful that the deal for Jamie will go through," Coleman told the Accrington Observer.

"The lad is very keen and he has got pace and an eye for goal and we hope to sign him until Christmas."

Accrington chairman Eric Whalley has also revealed he has spoken to Clark's representative and he expects a deal to be agreed.

"His (Clark's) agent has been in touch and, although manager Paul Ince is away until Monday, the agent has spoken to his assistant Ray Mathias and says he expects it to happen," Whalley added.
