Derbyshire: Looking forward

Matt Derbyshire admits he feels like he is on trial again following Paul Ince's appointment as Blackburn Rovers manager.

Ince recently replaced Mark Hughes at the Ewood Park helm and is currently assessing the squad at his disposal.

Derbyshire was something of an impact player from the bench under Hughes, with only four of his 23 Premier League appearances last season coming from the start.

He is looking to impress Ince during pre-season and believes it will take time for the players to become accustomed to the new manager's demands.

Looking forward

"I've been in training every day in the last week and it feels a bit like you're on trial," Derbyshire told Sky Sports News.

"It's all new staff, a new manager and the players are looking forward to it.

"You get used to what it's all about, and a coach and what he wants.

"Now there is a new manager here and new coaches to get used to what they need and what they want from you."
