Fowler: Set for deal

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince has revealed the club are close to agreeing a deal with Robbie Fowler.

Fowler has been training with Rovers all summer after leaving Championship side Cardiff.

Ince is keen to have Fowler at Ewood Park and he believes his former Liverpool team-mate can still cut it in the Premier League.

Different class

"We are close to doing something with Robbie. He's been different class in training in the last few days," said Ince.

"Robbie is a Premier League goalscorer and he always will be, but the only issue is getting his sharpness back."

Blackburn are believed to be ready to offer the 33-year-old an initial six-month deal which could become a permanent contract if he impresses Ince.
