Skysports.com understands Blackburn have handed a trial to Real Mallorca midfielder Jordi Lopez.

Lopez is looking for a move to England and had a spell on trial at Portsmouth earlier this month.

The 27-year-old has been recommended to Rovers boss Paul Ince and he will spend the next few days training at Ewood Park.

The former Real Madrid and Sevilla player spent last season on loan at Racing Santander before he was released by Mallorca in the summer.

Lopez can play on the right side of midfield and he could be seen as an ideal replacement for David Bentley.

Ince is keen to bolster his squad and he will cast an eye over Lopez in training before deciding whether or not to offer him a deal.
