Ince: Backing for Andrews

Blackburn boss Paul Ince has backed new signing Keith Andrews to successfully step up to the Premier League following his arrival from MK Dons.

Sceptics have suggested Andrews could struggle to replicate his success in League One in the Premier League.

However, Ince is a big admirer of Andrews having worked him during his time in charge of MK Dons and he is confident the Irishman has the ability to shine in the top flight.

Asked if he had any concerns that Andrews would struggle to adapt in the top flight, Ince said: "None whatsoever. If there was then I wouldn't have bought him in the first place.

"If you look at someone like Steven Reid who was at Millwall and who's now playing for his country and playing in the first-team at Blackburn.

No problems

"He will have no problems settling in with the rest of the lads. He is a good lad and I am sure he will enjoy himself here.

"There are players down there who can come up and perform in the Premiership.

"There's no reason why we have to keep looking at £6-7 million players when there are players down there who I feel can perform in the Premiership."

Ince also believes fellow new signing Vince Grella will prove to be a quality addition to the squad.

"Vince is a very good player. He's played numerous games for his country, Australia, and he's played for years in Serie A," added Ince.

"He's a very good comfortable player. Two good feet, gets about the pitch and can tackle and another one who will be very good for the squad."
